Fresh Thyme olive oil cooking spray
1 large egg, lightly beaten
â…” cup Fresh Thyme organic Tomato & Basil Pasta Sauce, divided
½ cup quick-cooking rolled oats
½ cup finely chopped onion
1 tsp. Fresh Thyme garlic powder
1 tsp. Fresh Thyme Italian seasoning
¼ tsp. Fresh Thyme fine sea salt
¼ tsp. coarse-ground black pepper, plus additional for garnish
1 lb. 93%-lean ground beef
8 oz. Fresh Thyme bulk sweet Italian pork sausage, casing removed
3 ½-inch-thick slices fresh mozzarella
Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a rimmed baking pan with foil; lightly spray with cooking spray. Set pan aside.
- In a large bowl, combine beaten egg and 1/3 cup pasta sauce. Stir in oats, onion, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Add ground beef and Italian sausage. Gently combine, being careful to not overmix.
- Shape mixture into an 8×4-inch loaf on the prepared baking pan. Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 160°F. During the last 5 minutes, top with remaining 1/3 cup pasta sauce and slices of mozzarella.
- Remove from oven; loosely cover with foil and let stand 10 minutes. Garnish with black pepper and fresh basil leaves, if desired.
